BEADO CPSC VOLUNTARY RECALL JUNE 2010
|
Click here to download the official CSPC Recall Press Release.* Rhino Toys in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has voluntarily recalled the Beado #1501 from its initial production shipment date coded 02910 04323A. The plastic wires of the Beado can detach from the hubs due to insufficient adhesive, allowing the beads to slide off. The loose beads pose a choking hazard to young children. There have been no reported incidents. How do I know that whether my Beado has been recalled? This recall involves the Beado hand-held beaded play toy with model number 1501 and date code 02910 04323A. The model number and date code are printed on the bottom of the packaging and the date code is also inside of the blue hubs (see picture below). Beados that have a date code different than 02910 or have a date code of 02910 and an inspection sticker on the bottom of the packaging and a black mark by the date code inside the blue hub (see picture below) are not included in this recall.
If your Beado has a Date Code other than 02910 it is not included in this recall. If your Beado has the Date Code 02910 but inspection sticker on the packaging and a black mark next to the Date Code inside the blue hub, it is not included in this recall. Only Beados with a Date Code 02910 without a black mark are included in this recall. If you determine that you have one or more of the affected Beados subject to recall, please take the Beado immediately away from children. Then Click Here to Download the Return Form and Instructions.* We will send you a tested Beado as replacement as well as an Oball (value of $6.99) and postage reimbursement. Alternatively we will reimburse you the amount of $14.00 and postage. Postage will be reimbursed at the estimated US Postal Ground Rate. If you have any specific concerns regarding the Beado recall you may contact Rhino Toys at (877) 887-4433 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. PST Monday through Friday or email us directly at recall@rhinotoys.com *You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the Press Release and Beado Return Form. Below is information about Rhino Toys' compliance with all relevant aspects of the Act, particularly regarding lead, phthalates and small parts notifications. LEAD: Rhino Toys' products do not contain lead. All Rhino Toys' products are rigorously tested by a certified 3 rd party testing agency and have passed the lead requirements in the Act and ASTM standards. (Section 101, 102, 106) PHTHALATES: Right now, trace amounts of phthalates are present in Rhino Toys' Sky Blaster and Sky Blaster Shuttle. The phthalate content is not located on any mouthable part. Effective November 1, 2008, the Sky Blaster and Sky Blaster Shuttle products are being produced without phthalates. All other Rhino Toys do not contain phthalates. The plastics uses in Rhino Toys' products are rigorously tested by a certified 3 rd party testing agency and have passed the phthalates requirements in the Act. (Section 102, 106, 108) NOTIFICATION: Only one of Rhino Toys' products has a choking hazard, Jointz®. On the front of the Jointz package it states, "Warning! Choking Hazard: Small Parts, Not For Children Under 3 Years" on the packaging. The law now requires that all advertisement with the opportunity to purchase, either web or catalog, also bear this warning. Please consider this your notification to include this warning should you advertise these products (Section 105).
